Introducing Funbox: A 3D Printer Built for Kids, Trusted by Parents

At home, safety and creativity shouldn't be a trade-off.

That's the idea behind Funbox — ugee's first desktop 3D printer designed specifically for kids and beginners. UL GREENGUARD Certified from the ground up, every part of Funbox — from its enclosure to its controls to its AI-powered creative tools — is built around one goal: letting kids create freely while giving parents genuine peace of mind.

Our hope is simple. Whether it's a scribbled doodle or an idea like "I want a cat that can fly," Funbox turns those sparks of imagination into something kids can actually hold in their hands.

Safety First, Always

Bringing a 3D printer into a family home starts with one question: is it safe?

Funbox features a fully enclosed, rounded-edge chassis paired with a 12V low-voltage DC power supply that meets strict IEC safety standards, minimizing the risk of electric shock. Inside, an exclusive H12 HEPA filter plus activated carbon module works alongside a 6010 active exhaust fan — the largest in its class — to efficiently trap ultrafine particles and odors produced during printing.

Funbox has earned UL GREENGUARD certification along with ASTM F963-23, EN71, and EN62115 international toy safety standards. That means parents can let Funbox run overnight, even in a carpeted bedroom, without worrying about indoor air quality or accidental burns from an exposed hot nozzle. A real-time heating indicator also alerts users whenever the nozzle is hot, adding an extra layer of protection during filament changes or calibration.

Unbox It, Plug It In, Start Creating

We know that complexity is often what keeps families from trying 3D printing in the first place.

Funbox arrives 100% pre-assembled — no bed leveling, no screws, no complicated setup. It connects via dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and pairs with the proprietary UFun app, delivering print speeds up to 500mm/s with a minimum layer precision of 0.05mm. Three tiered slicing modes — Fast, Standard, and Fine — adapt to everyone from preschool beginners to teen hobbyists.

A built-in 2MP HD camera lets you monitor prints remotely and capture creative time-lapse videos, while power-loss resume and automatic filament jam detection help reduce failed prints and cut down on day-to-day maintenance for both kids and parents.

AI That Speaks Kid

The part of Funbox we're most excited about is its AI ShapeGen engine.

Whether a child describes an idea out loud, types it in, or draws a quick sketch, Funbox's three generation modes turn that input into a ready-to-print 3D model. The UFun app also hosts a constantly growing library of toys, stationery, animal figures, and mechanical models, alongside free serialized STEM tutorials that guide kids through structural design and basic engineering concepts as they build.

Funbox is also fully compatible with standard 1.75mm PLA filament from any mainstream supplier, keeping long-term costs low and creative options wide open.

Pricing & Availability

Funbox is now available for pre-order exclusively on the ugee website at an early-bird price of $269 (regular price $329), which includes 7 complimentary rolls of standard PLA filament.
