 Washington - The United States said on Wednesday it is sending its top envoy in Africa to the Democratic Republic of Congo as it voiced "deep concern" over fighting in the country's east. Jendayi Frazer, the assistant secretary of state for African affairs, "is going to be in Kinshasa," the capital, on Thursday to talk with "the leadership in the DRC," State Department spokesperson Sean McCormack told reporters.

 Uganda and Kenya have agreed to set up a joint ministerial commission to expedite the construction of a railway line that links the 2 East African countries to Southern Sudan and Eastern Congo, news from Media Center Kampala. The decision has been taken today during talks between President Yoweri Museveni and President Mwai Kibaki of Kenya. The talks took place at State House, Nairobi.

 Kigali - Rwanda said on Wednesday that the fighting in the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo was an internal affair for which it bore no responsibility and rejected the idea of a summit on the issue. Kinshasa has accused the Rwandans of backing the forces of the National Congress for the Defence of the People (CNDP) led by rebel DRC General Laurent Nkunda, a charge Kigali has denied.
