Sudan acquires 12 Fighter jets from Russia
fighter_jet_mig-29.jpgMoscow - Russia has sold 12 MiG-29 fighter jets to Sudan, Sudanese Defence Minister Abdul Rahim Mohammed Hussein said during a visit to Moscow on Friday, Russian news agencies reported. "Yes, it's all done. The planes have been bought," the defence minister was quoted as saying to reporters at a briefing in Moscow, in response to a question about a contract for the purchase of the 12 planes.

Somali Islamists impose Sharia law in captured town
soldiers_in_somalia.jpgMogadishu - Somalia's Islamist Shebab fighters on Thursday imposed Sharia law in a port south of the capital Mogadishu which they seized from local clan militia a day earlier. Hours after taking over Merka town, about 100km south of Mogadishu early on Wednesday, Shebab commander Mohamed Sheikh Abdi Muse ordered traders to close businesses during prayer time.

 
Same fees for foreign students - Museveni
museveni_23.jpgPRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has ordered public universities and other institutions of higher learning to charge Ugandan and foreign students the same amount of tuition fees. "The practice of charging foreign students higher fees must stop immediately" the president ordered.
 
Migereko criticises UIA over incentives
migereko_daudi.jpgUganda Minister of energy and mineral development has accused the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) for not giving enough support to local investors. Mr Daudi Migereko, was in jinja when he made this criticism. He said extending incentives like tax holiday would boost local investors’ business operations and increase employment opportunities.
