Uganda lies between the two arms of the Great Rift Valley in East Africa. It is crossed by the equator. It lies between latitudes 4 degrees 12" north and 1 degree 29" south and longitudes 29 degrees 5" and 25" east. It is roughly the same in size to Great Britain, Ghana or the state of Oregon in the United States of America. It is bordered by Kenya to the East, Sudan to the North, DRC to the West and Tanzania and Rwanda to the south.

 
People and Culture

Uganda is a study in cultural diversity. To talk about one Ugandan culture is therefore wrong. Uganda has diverse cultural groups speaking over thirty different languages. The people can be classified into the following broad categories, the Bantu, the Nilotics, the Madi-Okoru or the Sudanic speaking and the Pygmoid people.


 
Government:

museveni8.jpgThe present government in Uganda is that of the Movement or no-party with Yoweri Museveni as the executive President.
He was first elected by universal adult suffrage in 1996.

The Executive:
This is headed by the president.
The president is deputised by the vice president. Below the vice president is the Prime Minister. Cabinet ministers follow the Prime Minister in hierarchy. Cabinet ministers are deputised by state ministers. Read on:
