Harare - Pressure mounted on the Zimbabwe government on Thursday to admit foreign observers to oversee a presidential election run-off amid fresh claims that pro-government militias were instilling terror in the countryside As the opposition alleged that 30 supporters had now been killed and a union leader said 40 000 farmworkers and their dependents had been made homeless, the authorities played down the levels of violence.

Families are breaking up as a result of DNA results, released from the Government analytical laboratory in Wandegeya. The government laboratory has run out of reagents to serve more clients, due to the overwhelming demand.
A DNA machine was commissioned in the country for the fist time mid last year, and since then a number of families are reported to have broken up due to shocking revelations.

Harare - Police in Zimbabwe on Wednesday arrested a leading lawyer over allegations that he insulted veteran President Robert Mugabe, the attorney's colleague said.
Harrison Nkomo was detained by police after he was said to have remarked to a senior prosecutor whose surname is Mugabe to tell his "father" to step down as the country was suffering under his rule.

$200m (sh334b) loan from the World Bank to
finance its poverty reduction programme.
The deputy secretary to the
Treasury, Keith Muhakanizi, said the funds were meant for roads, water,
agriculture, health and free primary and secondary education. The money is a
reduction from previous years. Uganda
used to receive $150m a year for its anti-poverty plan.

Secondary schools countrywide have raised the schools fees for next term following the recent increase in food prices. Most head teachers yesterday said their management committees had approved the new fees structure at the end of last term.
