Dar Es Salaam - Twelve people were killed and 29 others injured in a road accident in Tanzania's central region of Morogoro, police said on Saturday.
Regional police commander Thobias Andengenye said a trailer hit a passenger bus as it tried to avoid a smash-up with an oncoming vehicle late on Friday.

The parliamentary committee on defense and internal affairs if demanding for the suspension of the National population data bank and identification project until the legal matters surrounding the award of contract are settled. The committee recommends that no money should be earmarked for the project until the legal papers are presented and a legal framework instituted to manage the project.

A constitutional referendum is being held in Burma despite calls from the outside world for a postponement after last week's devastating cyclone.
Voting is under way in most of the country - but has been delayed in the worst-hit areas, including Rangoon. The poll comes amid mounting international criticism of Burma's
military rulers for their handling of the response to the crisis. They say they will welcome overseas aid but not foreign relief workers.

Regulators in the US are being urged to investigate any potential online advertising and search partnership between Google and Yahoo. The call by a coalition of 16 American civil rights and rural advocacy bodies comes despite the fact no firm deal has actually been announced.
"We all suffer in such mega mergers," Gary Flowers of the Black Leadership Forum told BBC News.

The Zambian government says it has recovered money and assets worth nearly $60m stolen during the rule of former President Frederick Chiluba.
The assets include bank deposits and an upmarket apartment in Belgium. Information Minister Mike Mulongoti said the assets would be sold and the money used to upgrade hospitals.
