KAMPALA - The Bank of Uganda is planning to reduce interest rates in an effort to allow more people to borrow, Mr Tumusime Mutebile has hinted.
“I want to reduce interest rates in the market so I have to cut bank rates. I do not have any intention of intervening in the markets to control interest rates,” he told journalists earlier in the week.

Henry Wako Muloki ruled over Busoga, one of Uganda's major five kingdoms. Locals described the king as a man who talked to young and old, and the most unifying factor in the region, he said. The Democratic Republic of Congo's army and the UN have begun a military operation to try to contain the activities of rebel leader Joseph Kony. The campaign follows failed attempts to negotiate an end to the rebellion by his Lord's Resistance Army.
