155 dead and rising as Mumbai comes to terms with terror
Mumbai - Up to 155 people have been killed and 327 others have been wounded in a series of coordinated attacks by Islamic militants in Mumbai, Indian media reported early on Saturday. Some 51 hours after Islamist gunmen attacked the city, the NDTV news channel said on its website that 154 were dead and 327 injured. The CNN-IBN channel put the toll at 155 dead and also said 327 were wounded.
 
Uganda urges Kony to sign deal
Kampala - The Ugandan government on Friday urged elusive rebel leader Joseph Kony to sign an overdue peace agreement but voiced doubts the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) chief would show up for the weekend signing.
 
DRC - Nkunda's rebels capture new town

Kinshasa - Rebels in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo have captured a new town in an area where they had clashed with pro-government rebels, the UN mission in the country said on Friday.  There is a small CNDP presence in Ishasha," Lieutenant Colonel Jean-Paul Dietrich, spokesperson for the UN peacekeepers, said referring to members of the National Congress for the Defence of the People rebel group.

Zimbabwe's growing crisis has seen school attendance plummet from over 90% to 20%, major hospitals and clinics close, cholera hit record levels and millions of people go to bed hungry, a senior UN humanitarian official said on Wednesday.

 
Nigerian leader receives President Museveni
President Yoweri Museveni now on a 4-day official working visit to Nigeria has today been received by President Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua of Nigeria at State House Abuja, according to a report at the Uganda media Center. The President and his host held Tete a Tete talks this morning after which they joined their respective delegations for bilateral talks.
