Ugandan Food and Drink

Eating in Uganda is an exciting and rich experience. Food in Uganda has many different styles with thousands of great restaurants in all the major cities and towns of Uganda. All of them seem to boast about one chef or another, which is good, but for most of us we want to get down to eating. In addition, food in Kampala and other Ugandan tourist resorts is not restricted to traditional Ugandan delights. Cuisine from all over the world can be found in Uganda, including Asian, Indian, Middle Eastern, and other international tastes. Fast food chains are rising in popularity due to convenience and their family oriented style. The larger hotels usually provide a multitude of different types of food and anyone shouldn't find any difficulty in finding particular types of food. For Muslims, it is worth mentioning here that all meats including poultry are halal meat. Only muslims are allowed to kill animals for commercial meat to accomodate the large number of muslims in the country, which account for about 15% of the population.
