Kampala's Nakawa-Naguru tenants to benefit from cheap housing |
THE Government has agreed to provide cheap houses for the 500 tenants of the Naguru-Nakawa Housing Estate, who were forced to sell their interest . Adolf Mwesige the minister for local Government said although the tenants sold their interests, it was government’s responsibility to provide accommodation to its citizens.
The Government plans to re-develop the dilapidated housing estate into a modern satellite town. It offered the 56-hectare estate to a private developer, M/S Opec Prime Properties of the UK, to do the works. Mwesige advised the tenants to register with the ministry immediately.
