Migereko criticises UIA over incentives

Uganda Minister of energy and mineral development has accused the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) for not giving enough support to local investors. Mr Daudi Migereko, was in jinja when he made this criticism. He said extending incentives like tax holiday would boost local investors’ business operations and increase employment opportunities. He said incentives should not be a preserve for only foreign investors. He asked the Jinja residents to support the town’s industrial revival by investing in the area.

“We residents of Jinja have the potential to build hotels and business malls that enhance tourism and boost development. Let’s change our attitude and revamp Jinja town,” he said.

“It’s no point for people to praise the colonialists for havingconstructed estates in Walukuba and Mpumudde. Focus on developing investment to solve the problem of unemployment because it’s still achallenge to the government,” he said.
