Uganda has been selected by the World Food Programme to be part of a new multi-million dollar initiative to help small-scale farmers increase their incomes. The WFP, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Howard G. Buffett Foundation are spearheading the ground breaking initiative dubbed, Purchase for Progress (P4P) at the cost of $76 million.
The WFP have said the initiative is expected to help thousands of small
scale farmers to access reliable markets so they can sell their surplus
crops at competitive prices.
