Police crack down on illegal marijuana.

Police has mounted an operation on growth and production of bang locally referred to as enjaga destroying plantations worth millions. Police has also arrested some people for alleged involvement in bang growth. Residents of Kasoozo village, Kakiri Sub County, Wakiso district were thrown into shock when police mounted an operation destroying plantations of the crop. The operation led by Wakiso Regional Police Commander, Alison Agaba together with police spokesmen Simeo Nsubuga arrested six people for alleged involvement in its growth.

Growing bang has become a lucrative business in the area involving almost all households. According to one of the children arrested while on the run, a basin of bang costs between 30 to 50,000 shillings.Bang is allegedly sold in Kampala suburbs including Kisenyi, Katanga, Kalerwe and Bwaise.

In Wakiso, bang is grown in wetlands and forested areas. The country has of late been characterized by unlawful acts such as murder, rape and defilement all linked to use of drugs notably bang
