The Hague - Ugandan Judge Daniel Nsereko has been appointed to the appeals chamber of the International Criminal Court, the ICC announced on Tuesday. "Judge Nsereko has more than 20 years of comprehensive experience in criminal law and procedure," the court, based in The Hague, said in a statement. "As an advocate, he has been representing defendants in criminal and civil cases before Magistrates' Courts, the High Court and the court of appeal in Uganda since 1972." A professor of law at the University of Botswana, Nsereko has written extensively on criminal and international humanitarian law. His predecessor, Navanathem Pillay, from South Africa, has moved on to Geneva to become the new UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. |
