| Sudan to stop using Uganda phone code |

He was responding to questions raised by MPs during a debate on his ministry’s budget for this financial year. The MPs were concerned that Sudan was using Uganda’s code for free. Mulira explained that in 2006, South Sudan asked Uganda to use its code temporarily. He added that uganda telecom connected South Sudan on the code. “It is not accurate to say that the code is for free. The operators have interconnection charges,” Mulira argued. Ruth Tuma (NRM), the chairperson of the parliamentary forum on children, asked the minister to set up an international children’s help-line as requested by rights activities. |
