EA fibre optic sea cable completion expected in June 2009

under_sea_cable.jpg Seacom, the Mauritius based Company has announced that the under sea cable linking East africa to the rest of the world in broadband will be launched in June 2009.he company said it would start laying the $650m cable, which is needed to provide high-speed Internet access and spur investment, in October this year.



The 15,000km cable will wind around the east of the continent between South Africa and Egypt, then on to Mumbai in India and Marseille in France. Uganda is expected to benefit from this investment as broadband facilities in the country are too expensive for the ordinary person, and have been restricted to large companies and internet cafe's
