| Uganda Police grows bigger and stronger. |
|
“Currently we have a strong force though it is still below the required international standard of one police officer to every 500 people. But we hope to achieve the required number pretty soon,” Mr Opio said. “We have at least 13,000 regular police officers and 6,000 local administration police personal. These are paid directly by the Uganda Police force.” He also said that there were another 5,000 Special Police Constables (SPCs) and the 6,000 string Anti Stock Theft Unit personnel who are deployed to contain cattle rustling in the Karamoja region, that havent been included in that statistic. Uganda is expected to have the required force by 2013. |
