| Egypt: Car plunges into Nile, killing 9 |

Cairo - Nine people drowned, including a mother and her newborn child, when a car on a Nile river ferry tumbled into the water on Wednesday, an Egyptian security official said.
Five of the victims were children as the car preparing to disembark
from the ferry in Sharona village, southern Egypt, made a false
manoeuvre, sending its wheels into a skid and plunging the vehicle into
the Nile, he told AFP. Two sisters, their five children, and two relatives were killed. One of the women was on her way home with the baby after delivering in hospital.                |
