| Kiteezi site probe begins |

KAMPALA-Investigations into the mismanagement of the city’s main dumping grounds in Kiteezi, Wakiso district, have begun. Deputy city mayor Florence Namayanja, assistant town clerk Muwonge Kewaza, health secretary Caeser. Tokoma and the director of health services, Mesarch Mubiru, visited the site two weeks ago. “We have set up a committee headed by Joel Kyewalabye, with members Emmanuel Ochama, Dan Mulumba and Badru Bakojja, to investigate the matter,” Namayanja said while inaugurating the team on Monday. Residents have protested over the stench that emanates from the site due to poor garbage disposal. Kampala City Council has been paying about sh140m a month to Otada construction company to manage the garbage site but residents say the firm has failed to do a proper job, exposing them to health hazards.                |
