| 3 bridal escorts die in accident |

Three bridal escorts died when their vehicle collided with another car, a Land Cruiser, at Nyamufumura, on the Mbarara-Bushenyi highway on Sunday. They were returning from a give-away ceremony in Kitagata sub-county, Bushenyi district. The bride, Safiat Nalubega and groom Ibrahim Tumusiime survived with injuries. The Police identified the dead as Anifa Nalongo, 30, the bride’s aunt, her three-year-old son Ibra Lwanga and the driver, Deus Mwijukye. They were residents of Kyenkwanzi village in Kagango sub-county, Bushenyi district. Mwijukye and Lwanga died on the way to Mbarara Hospital. The district traffic officer, Michael Ensinikweri, blamed the accident on speeding. “The driver of the Land Cruiser, Richard Kamugisha, failed to control the vehicle as he by-passed a cyclist.”                |
