Charles launches youth trust
prince_charles.jpgTHE Prince of Wales on Friday launched the Uganda Business Youth Trust to provide finances for young people with ideas that they want to turn into businesses.

Prince Charles also expressed concern about climate change, saying it has grave consequences for organic agricultural production and the survival of life.

“We can hold the planet in trust for our children and grandchildren. We can choose to abuse it and pass it on to them damaged or even beyond repair or we can choose to keep it well and pass it on to them,” the Prince said.

The heir to the British throne, announced his package for the youth when he visited the Commonwealth People’s Space at Hotel Africana in Kampala.

The prince who exuded warmth, took some time to tour the different stalls, chatting and shaking hands with the people.

He posed for an photograph with a group of Catholic Women’s Guild, commending their smart yellow dresses (gomesis).

The women, who could not hide their happiness, ululated and clapped. Charles’s wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, was not with him. An official explained that she was elsewhere performing other duties.

“I am so excited to be here. It has taken me and my wife almost 60 years to reach Uganda,’’ the Prince said in his address.

The Youth Business Trust is part of an intervention he started 30 years ago in the UK to address unemployment among the youth.
